San Jose and Cabo Lusas are bigger towns and have more restaurants and a number of larger stores...more people and more traffic. If you want some big box stores in that area, there is a Costco, Sam's Club, Home Depot, 2 Soriano's and a Maga. Soriano and Maga are like Wal Mart. In the big box stores you don't have quite the variety as in the US. Most American products are more expensive then in the US because they are subject to a duty tax. But you have more choices than in most of the other stores in Mexico...and there are a variety of items in one place.
La Paz, the state capitol, is a large city, over 250,000. There are many store and restaurants. It is not quite the tourist town as Cabo San Lucas. The water front shopping and resturant area is where most of the visitors go.
